We've put together a new kit of parts to help you create a rocket for the 2025 UK ROC competition. This full featured kit has most of the bits and pieces you'll need to get designing and building. The UKROC rocketry competition is an amazing opportunity for young people aged 11 to 18 in schools or clubs. This engaging challenge will have your team(s) designing and building a rocket to achieve a complicated mission. This year two eggs need to be flown and landed without cracking, to a target altitude and target total flight time. Depending on how close you get to both needs of the mission you will be scored appropriately at regional finals before moving on to the national final from there. You can check out our UK ROC section on the website here.Or visit our bundle for sale here.
TSP have released a new set of motors in D and E sizes. Both these motors are 24mm in diameter and offer a lower 12N average thrust instead of the existing 20N. This offers a gentler longer burn time.As always these motors are available in Booster(0s), 2s, 4s, 6s and 8s delays and are in stock now on the website. The D12 motors burn for 1.4 seconds with a total impulse of 19 Ns. Maximum thrust is 30N.The E12 motors burn for 3.2 seconds with a total impulse of 39 Ns. Maximum thrust is 30N.
We are now stocking an exciting new range of rocket motors from TSP in Poland. These motors have been in development for years and offer incredible performance at incredibly reasonably prices. These motors are single-use in 24mm and 29mm diameter (F size for the latter). And available with 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 second delays. They are suitable for use in many rockets from Estes, Estes PRO, LOC Precision, Public Missiles, Klima, North coast rocketry and more. They would be fantastic in a cluster! We are stocking three models (D, E and F) with the G motor in development. These motors are classified as UN0432 / 1.4S so can be sent via courier. This line of Mid-Power engines are reliable and powerful. They are quite easy to ignite so they are suitable for multi engine clusters and staged rockets too. These motors don't use black powder so offer a higher performance too.You can use pretty much any motor igniter of your choosing, or the included ones too. For staging you can have D, E and even F35-0 as your first stage engine. These motors can ignite the following stage reliably and without issue. TSP motors have CE certification so are fully legal to purchase and use here in the UK.
We are now stocking the Eggtimer electronics kits for your model rocketry needs. Mainly designed for mid and high power rockets, but some of these can be used in large lower powered rockets too.Eggtimer make flight computers, GPS tracking systems and recovery deployment options, all in electronic kit form to assemble yourself. The Eggtimer apogee deployment controller kit is incredible value for money and is easy to solder. It will fit inside a 24mm tube and is perfectly at home alongside a Jolly logic chute release. It's both easy to use and simple to build. Almost completely through-hole components so no need to grab the magnifying glass for those little surface mounted components! The apogee deploys your parachute at apogee and it also beeps out your altitude after the flight. Please have a browse of the Eggtimer kits if you're into your electronics and your rocketry.
Recovery wadding is needed to prevent your parachute or streamer from being damaged by being burnt or melted in your rocket. When your motor or ejection charge is ready to eject your parachute these create extremely hot gases that can damage your recovery system. Wadding is essential therefore to absorb this heat instead of your parachute! There's nothing worse than a crispy roasted parachute after your first launch. We offer three main wadding options.1) Estes wadding sheets2) Klima natural wadding3) Nomex re-usable waddingThe Estes wadding is what most people know and trust, it works reliably and you can put the correct number of sheets in for each launch. It's a great option for all rocket launches.Klima has developed their wadding packs from hemp fiber which is environmentally friendly. This 100% biodegradable wadding works just as well at protecting your recovery system and meets fire protection class B1.Depending on the size of your rocket you should manage to get 40-50 rocket launches on smaller rockets from the big bag.Our Nomex wadding is a heat proof fabric that can be used over and over again, just attach it to your shock cord and wrap it around your parachute. All three options work perfectly and you can choose whichever one you like. Nomex is great on larger rockets that would otherwise use quite a lot of conventional wadding.Likewise Klimas natural wadding is biodegradable so we strongly recommend you consider this one too. You can also install wadding free options such as Piston's and baffles to escape the need for any wadding at all! We have all of these items in our shop so please have a look around.
The UKROC competition is an incredible opportunity for schools and clubs. It's a great competition, in which you work together to build a rocket to fly an egg safely and hit other targets too.You will need to great a rocket no more than 650 grams in gross weight and the rocket needs to be at least 650mm tall too. It has to use two different size air frames with a wider one at the bottom and narrower at the top. The upper tube must be no more than 57mm in diameter and the lower one must be over 63.5mm in diameter. The mission is to fly an egg safely as close to 820 feet (250 meters) in altitude with a total duration of 43-46 seconds. This is a great competition for schools with loads to learn and experience along the way. We have loads of parts and have even put together some starter bundles of bits that are perfectly suited to creating your rocket. There are two main approaches for your body tube size and further parts therefore.  We can supply both Klima 75 and 50mm air frame with our Klima 75/50 coupler do suit the 2024 rules well. We also stock the BT70 and BT80 tube and our own BT70/80 coupler which are also a great fit for the design requirements this time. We can supply everything you need and are happy to help with advice, although you can speak to UKROC too for help and guidance. You can visit our UKROC dedicated page here. And you can visit the UKROC website here.
