Rocket software can be incredibly helpful in designing your UKROC rocket. While it's not absolutely essential it's certainly going to help you.
We don't sell any software ourselves, and we don't receive commission on our suggestions here either.
Rocket design and simulation software lets you test out your rocket in the software. You can fine tune your design and which motors to use in order to get on target. It will also show you if your rocket will be stable or not (or even too stable).
The two main paid software options are very decent, however there is also a free software which is still great (although does lack some of the more advanced features).
* A temporary licence is available for UKROC team members for your personal PC. This costs $15 and you will need to contact Apogee to verify your UKROC registration with them before you order on the website. (Not for school computers, teachers or mentors).
Aside from that you can get an individual standard licence for $50, or a 5 seat licence for a school for $60.42.
Rocksim is an easy to use computer program that can run on Windows or Mac. It allows you to design any size rocket and simulate its flight to see how high and fast it will fly. There is an extensive motors and components database for designing with and it's not too difficult to pickup how it all works.
There are also plenty of helpful guides here at apogee rockets.
You can design a stable rocket and work out the best motor and parachute for your requirements.
Find out how high your rocket will fly and optimize for best flight performance.
Space CAD has an interactive rocket designer which makes editing your design even easier.
There are also parachute printout tools, fin alignment and cut out tools among a huge suite of options.
Space CAD's documentation page is here.
It offers everything you need to design, simulate and fly rockets. Open rocket has all the motor data from Thrust Curve so you can almost certainly find the motor you are looking to use in your rocket.
Easy design and reliable simulations are no issue with open rocket.
